Queen City NSBE Jr

Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers and Leaders in Our Community!



About QC NSBE Jr.

Our chapter currently has two Ten80 Racing Challenge teams; Middle School and High School. We will add more teams this academic year 2015-2016; the number of additional teams will depend on the total number of members. 


A little about us: 

  • We start each meeting with a 10 minute Math Drill worksheet that will be corrected and reviewed 
  • We will work on documentation, posters (visual aids), car designs, elevator speeches, and more 
  • Each meeting we will have a light snack or pizza depending on the length of the meeting 
  • We order two chapter t shirts per year; and a polo shirt for competition presentations 
  • We refer to each other as NSBE FAMILY as we be-lieve it takes a village to do anything! 

Objectives

  • Encourage students to have a positive attitude towards academic excellence 
  • Stimulate enthusiasm about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics 
  • Encourage K-12th graders to pursue degrees in engineering and other technical fields 
  • Increase the number of underrepresented students attending and graduating from college 
  • Encourage and support parental commitment to children’s education 
  • Raise cultural awareness among students 
  • Teach students to work as a team and promote sportsmanship 
  • Help students build confidence in public speak-ing 
  • Introduce students to technical writing, Power-Point presentation creation, marketing, and other professional development skills
